Working with actions

After installing the ADPG cluster, you will be able to work with it through ADCM. The following actions will be available to you:

Install contrib

This action installs adpg14-contrib's extension similar to PostgreSQL contrib.

PostgreSQL contrib includes porting tools, analysis utilities, and plug-in features that are not part of the core PostgreSQL system, mainly because they address a limited audience or are too experimental to be part of the main source tree.

Install postgis

This action installs adpg14-postgis's extension similar to PostGIS.

PostGIS is a spatial database extension for PostgreSQL that allows GIS (Geographic Information Systems) objects to be stored in the database. The ADPG Database PostGIS extension includes support for GiST-based R-Tree spatial indexes and functions for the analysis and processing of GIS objects.

Reconfigure & Reload

This action updates postgresql.conf and pg_hba.conf with the present user configuration without restarting the ADPG service.

The reload command simply sends a SIGHUP signal to the postgres server process that causes it to re-read its configuration files (postgresql.conf, pg_hba.conf, etc.). This allows you to apply parameter changes to a configuration file without requiring a complete restart of the server.

Reconfigure & Restart

This action updates postgresql.conf and pg_hba.conf with the present user configuration and tries to restart ADPG service.

The restart command essentially stops and then starts the server. This allows you to change postgres command line parameters or apply changes to a configuration file that do not take effect without restarting the server. If you specified relative paths on the command line when starting the server, the restart command may fail if you call pg_ctl in a different directory than the previous startup.

This action reinstalls ADPG service with installed extensions.

This action runs SQL command with postgres user. By default, all commands are executed in the postgres database.

This action starts the adpg14 systemd service.

This action stops the adpg14 systemd service.
